From the book
...Architect has been given the commission to design a space for the expanded congregation. He has carried out his task in a remarkable way. The old building, which is an important monumental object, first erected in the 17th century in remembrance of the plague and built up to its present form in 18th century, was left intact while the new building is located next to the old one. The new and the old church has virtually risen under the rich green overlay of the elevated ground surface and has thus, in all its width, widened its eyes towards St. Rock so that the visitors are enabled to perceive the latter's presence in its entirety. In such a way, the architect showed his refined attitude in respecting the qualities of heritage and environment. Nevertheless, he has not done it in an imitative way but in a creative and self-confident one. He promoted the old church to the rank of a monument and prepared the new one for the complete concentration of visitors. Thus the central space of the multipurpose complex is softly lowered into the ground.
In its attention to detail and space, the building is exceptionally thoughtfully designed, for the architect impregnated his world of forms in every single detail, even in the color of the material, with symbolic meaning. He even thought of special lighting effects when, on a day of festivity, the sun should throw the light upon the scene. Since the time Plečnik there has been no such creation in our country. It could even be said that our church exceeds Plečnik's level, for there are not only details of the solemn space that are narrative, but it is also animated as space, which is a quality we have not met since Baroque. We thus have an architecture which is vivid in space and eloquent in details, attracting us even when unprepared.
...Marko Mušič is, as we are, convinced we should again re-establish the corporate work of art, public places should again become live and rich galleries. It is also from this point of view that the work of the architect is an important stimulus.
